The Security Foiling blog - 'Foiling the Forgers' - part three

This is the third of four articles focusing on the many uses of Hot Stamping Foils to assist in counterfeit prevention and detection for security documents.

‘Foiling the forgers’ – ‘Personalizing’ – adding unique features to hot stamping foil and holograms

Sequential numbering - can be recorded during document creation and authenticated later by electronic methods.

There is technology available today that can add sequential numbering to holograms on the foil roll to add traceability of both the hologram before stamping and the documents after stamping.

HSF is a perfect material for adding additional personalization and can be authenticated at Levels One & Two:

Halftone images & photographs – strong brand identity. See Security Foiling's Photografix image below:

Security threads – a continuous line of text running through the feature. See Security Foiling's Thru-View feature below:

Covert information – revealed by back lighting or UV light. Hidden text and numbering in using Security Foiling's Thru-View technology.

In summary; these features are more sophisticated and require higher skill levels and equipment to replicate or imitate – they create additional barriers for a counterfeiter.

In the fourth and final article, we will look at how adding hot foiled security features to documents and cards 'on demand' ; can enhance the security of not just the document but also the 'process of 'issuing' important documents
