President's Message
April Showers bring May Flowers! Hopefully the skies will brighten up and we will all have a more positive outlook on our situation. We are very fortunate to live here in Brockville. Our Covid numbers are back on the decline and as the vaccination becomes more readily available we should see even better results. Remember it is important to get vaccinated not just for yourself but for everyone in your community. We are all in this together and this is how we can make our town safe for all! If you have reservations about the vaccine, please speak with health care personnel - your family doctor or the health unit will be able to answer your questions. The other really important topic to bring up at this time is the Annual General Meeting. It will be held via Zoom on May 19, 2021 @ 1:00 PM. It is important to pre-register for this event so that the information package can be emailed to you along with the link to the zoom meeting. Please send an email advising of your interest to: fiftyplus@myhighspeed.ca by May 5, 2021. All members are encouraged to attend. The zoom application is easy to access by tablet, laptop or desktop computer. I think we have all become familiar with this application to keep in touch with friends and family during this pandemic.
The meeting will cover the financial situation of the Activity Centre, By-law updates, president's message as well as the election of board members. The AGM of the foundation will also be held at the same time.
At this time I would also like to thank everyone who has made this last year a success. Mike Libbos has been phenomenal in getting our 2 semesters organized. Too bad the winter semester didn't last too long! Better safe than sorry though. The leaders have been exceptional this year as well. There was a lot more to see to than just leading a class. Thank you for a job well done in keeping all the members safe. Finally I would like to thank everyone who helped to shut down Perth Street. It always amazes me as to how many people are willing to offer a helping hand. Thank you again to all.
In closing I wish you a great summer. Remember to get your vaccine! And stay safe this summer. We look forward to the Fall Semester in healthier times.
