Detention Action | Follow us on twitter, instagram, or facebook to get involved.
Detention Action provides emotional and practical support to hundreds of people held in immigration detention in the UK every year, and campaigns for an end to indefinite detention and fundamental reform of the UK's detention, deportation and asylum systems. In 2022, Detention Action was one of the lead claimants in the challenge to the UK-Rwanda removals plan, legal action which has so far prevented anyone being removed to Rwanda under the scheme. Detention Action coordinates two lived experience campaigning networks (Allies for Justice and Families for Justice).
Calais Appeal | Follow us on twitter, instagram or facebook to get involved.
Calais Appeal is a coalition of 7 grassroots organisations working in Northern France. The UK Government is trying to scapegoat people seeking safety to distract from their own failings. Calais Appeal are trying to stop them, by getting the truth out about the impact of their cruel policies on displaced people in Northern France. Policies of deterrence since 2016 have proved to be inefficient; they are cruel, forcing people into the hands of smugglers and putting their lives at risk. Taxpayer money is funding a campaign of daily harassment through evictions and intimidation of vulnerable people seeking safety. For displaced people in Northern France, access to clean and sufficient water to cook, drink and wash is a huge problem. The French state currently provides less than half the necessary amount, leaving a huge burden on grassroots groups. Calais Appeal will be campaigning to get them to take more responsibility this summer and accept UN recommendations to provide basic services to people on the move.
