The George on George Street- A Respectable Establishment for the Mildly Mischievous
A new chapter of conviviality has opened on one of our city’s most iconic streets. The George, a contemporary Victorian-inspired café bar, has flung open its heavy Georgian doors and is welcoming guests with open arms, perfectly poured pints, and just the right amount of cheek.
At The George, the food is hearty, seasonal and made with flair, from pink-centred lamb and indulgent mushroom Wellingtons to Sunday roasts that command reverence. Starters are non-negotiable. Sharing is encouraged, though not enforced.

Bath Rugby Champions Cup Pool fixtures: Dates confirmed!
Bath Rugby will begin their Investec Champions Cup 2025/26 campaign with a home game against Munster Rugby on 6 December.
The Blue, Black and White booked their place among the best teams in Europe and South Africa, after last month's unforgettable Gallagher Premiership title win at Allianz Stadium.
EPCR, in collaboration with their broadcast partners, have released the pool stage fixtures with Johann van Graan welcoming to The Rec his former club, where he spent five years as head coach before joining the Blue, Black and White in 2022.
Bath’s second game of Pool 2 will see them travelling to the south of France to face Top 14 side RC Toulon on 14 December.
It’s then another away trip across the channel for van Graan’s side as they face Castres Olympique in Round 3 on 9 January.
Bath close out their pool stage fixtures with the visit of Edinburgh Rugby, their semi-final opponents in last season’s EPCR Challenge Cup competition.

Bath named UK's second most popular relocation hotspot for 2025
Bath has been named the UK's second relocation capital based on population movements and rental enquiries, as 2.37% more residents moved in than out during 2023.
Smaller cities are crushing their metropolitan rivals in the battle for new residents, with Carlisle and Bath emerging as Britain's most sought-after relocation spots for 2025.
The cities topped a nationwide study by shipping company Irish Parcels, which tracked population movements across England and Wales using official statistics.
Bath nabbed second spot with 87.93 points, despite attracting slightly more new residents than Carlisle at 2.37%. Our city proved particularly popular with teenagers, with the 15-19 bracket accounting for a massive 25.26% of newcomers - likely heading to the universities.
