Memoir: In That Number, Regan Burke - Book Launch

Dear writer,

In a past issue of Memoir Writing Gym newsletters I recommended Beth Finke's Memoir Writing classes. What's more, I have taken her writing classes and that led to my first published essay. But today is not about me. It's about a classmate of mine - Regan Burke.  She has taken Beths' classes for a few years and now her memoir is getting published.

I invite you to join Regan Burke's Virtual Book launch!

"I highly recommend this wise and wonderful memoir about politics, about families, and then politics of families. Regan writes like an angel--and sometimes, even better, like the devil." -- Rick Perlstein,Author, Historian and Journalist

"I could not put down this memoir. It is a tale of redemption and rebirth. Regan Burke writes of all the pain of growing up the daughter of two alcoholics and well-dressed grifters “who didn’t pay their bills, lied, and cheated, but still had cocktails and hors d’oeuvresevery night before dinner.” Her story is that of the Baby Boomer generation from sex, drugs, and rock and roll to various political campaigns in Illinois and finally to the Clinton White House and beyond. In That Numberis a touching narrative of survival, loyalty, and compassion from a woman who has seen it all." -- Dominic A. Pacyga, Author of Chicago: A Biography

Writing Prompt

Covid-19

I refuse to call 2020 the year of Covid-19 because a number of good things happened too. But it was, and still is, a challenging time for all of us. Think back to when you first heard of Covid-19 and what you thought back then, and what do you think of it now, what did you learn about yourself, about the world, how did you grow?

Memoirs

We become better writers by writing and reading. This section highlights memoirs worth reading.
