A powerful new year - nothing less -

is our wish for you and your loved ones

December is in CMFE a newsletter-free month.
But we want to send you our warmest end-of-year- wishes!!!

2020 has been a crazy year. A painful, hurtful and a problem-filled year for each of us - and for many community media in Europe.

Even though it can be hard to take in now, when we are all in the midst of it all, we have also during the course of the year reported on important innovations in member stations, an increased visibility of the power of community media, a dawning understanding that it requires funding to do - and to keep doing - what we do as community media.

And the importance that community media are ... community ... the place where we meet up with each other, and where we, collectively, in solidarity address our burning issues, and where we celebrate where we come from - while contributing to defining where we are going - and how. Right now this togetherness is what many of us painfully miss to get back to. A friendly hug. A kind smile...

In the past year we have talked more - a lot more - in numerous online webinars, roundtables, conferences and meetings, and it is our impression that a whole new level of reflection on our praxis has been taking shape. We in the CMFE plan to - with your input and support - follow up on this in the new year, firming up a new agenda for 2021 and beyond.

Here in the north, where I am based, we follow the seasons. The daylight hours are very limited at this time of the year - and we all long for winter solstice, December 21, which 'brings the light back'. It is the turning point: hereafter the lighter days are coming - in all ways.

Let my photo of today's sunset at 15:30, three days only from the turn, be the promise. We say:
