It is reminiscent of Lakoff and Nunez's book Where Mathematics Comes From, except instead of math emerging from metaphor, this book argues that all thought emerges from analogy. Interesting stuff! If you haven't read any Hofstadter, Moana highly recommends starting with one of his books, and then reading all of the others.
Chris says that his non-tax time has been equally split between "knee therapy, bike riding, and pillow fights." He was very excited to be able to visit his parents in person for the first time since the pandemic hit. And for Mother's Day, he and his wife are going to rent a couple of electric bikes down in Monterey.
Most recently, Chris has been reading a biography of Bill Veeck: Baseball's Greatest Maverick. Apparently this guy once organized a "disco demolition night" at a Chicago White Sox game where he rigged a box of disco records to explode, tearing a huge hole in the outfield and delighting fans so much that they spilled onto the field, throwing disco records everywhere, and the White Sox had to forfeit the game.
Moana's daughter has been playing T-Ball, and the games have been fun even without any disco explosions, but we'll see if the SLV little league is amenable to alternative forms of entertainment.
Stay safe, be careful of horses and bees, and enjoy the beautiful sunshine!
Much love,
Moana and the Natural Bridges Team
