“This is what the Lord says: ‘Stand at the crossroads and look; ask for the ancient paths, ask where the good way is, and walk in it, and you will find rest for your souls.’” — Jeremiah 6:16
As Israel and the Jewish people draw near to the Fall Feasts — the Moedim, God’s appointed times — we are approaching a season of profound spiritual significance. In just a few short weeks, the sacred days of Yom Teruah (Feast of Trumpets), Yom Kippur (Day of Atonement), and Sukkot (Feast of Tabernacles) will be upon us. These are not merely historical observances; they are divine appointments set by God Himself, woven into the very fabric of His eternal purposes.
The weeks leading up to these feasts — the month of Elul — are traditionally a season of T’shuvah: turning back, repentance, and return. During this time, the Jewish people enter into deep reflection and prayers of repentance, known as Slichot, seeking forgiveness and restoration. It is a season to realign our hearts, to turn away from sin and neglect, and to step into renewed fellowship with the Lord.
And yet, what is striking is how God’s calendar aligns perfectly and so beautifully with the rhythms of His creation, nature. Its locked in - as much as heaven and earth are locked together and the sun, clouds and rain locked in with the soil of the earth, microbial world and vegetation are locked together. A synergy that cant be separated. - so is the Appointed Times and life in nature.

At this time of the year, as the Hebrew calendar ushers in the appointed feasts, the natural world testifies to the same theme: return - turn around. Right across the skies, birds instinctively begin their migration, turning in a new direction to seek shelter, sustenance, and safety for the coming season.
From my balcony, high up on this mountain where I live, I get to observe this wonder firsthand. Each morning as I sit out on my balcony, I see flocks flying overhead — some just three birds, others twenty or more — all moving in perfect formation, following a divine instinct placed within them by the Creator.
Israel sits at the heart of one of the world’s most important bird migration routes, a natural crossroads between Europe, Asia, and Africa. Twice a year hundreds of millions of birds pass over this land — They do a stop over here in Israel pausing here, resting, feeding, and regaining strength before continuing their journey. Even the birds, enjoy visiting Gods land it seems. They know that here they are safe, will be nourished, feed, and be refreshed to get prepared for what lies ahead.
The migration is fascinating and a phenomenon
Scripture speaks of this very phenomenon through the prophet Jeremiah
“Even the stork in the sky knows her appointed times; and the turtledove, the swift, and the thrush observe the time of their migration." — Jeremiah 8:7

No other nation has ever been scattered for thousands of years, only to be restored, resurrected, and regathered to its ancient homeland, reviving even its ancient language.

Jeremiah’s words are as relevant today as they were then. Creation (nature) itself recognizes God’s appointed seasons and responds instinctively. Should not God’s people be able to do the same? The birds turn when it is time to turn — and the Lord is calling His people to return to Him and return to their homeland, Israel, so we can all be prepared for what is ahead.
Aliyah is also fascinating and a phenomenon.
No other nation has ever been scattered for thousands of years, only to be restored, resurrected, and regathered to its ancient homeland, reviving even its ancient language.
Only Israel. Israel lives and returns, because God has written His promise into their very identity.
Just as the birds cannot help but return along their appointed paths, the Jewish people carry within them a divine “code” — a calling and instinct that will continue to draw them home until every prophecy is fulfilled.
Our God wants his people home to protect and save spiritually and naturally. This nation came out of the grave - He wants to bring His people home out of the grave of the nations.
If the birds dont turn around and leave, migrate, they will die - so our people in the nations need to know their appointed season, or they will die out in the nations. The God instinct for Jewish people to make Aliyah is for their safety, protection, sustenance, comfort and ultimately, salvation
As we stand at this prophetic crossroads, let us align our prayers with God’s purposes and plans.
It is the season for a return back to God and a return back to Israel, the homeland given by God to the Jewish people.
Pray for our people in the nations to have a new heart beat for Aliyah. Let their hearts beat again for this return. God is calling His people back to their spiritual roots and land.
Pray many of our people will be awakened to their God given appointed season of Aliyah and respond instinctively.
Pray that, during these days of reflection, the Jewish people would experience a deep stirring of T’shuvah — turn around, go the other way, back to God.
Pray that the sound of the shofar during Yom Teruah will awaken and stir hearts, creating a movement and rekindling the longing for home and drawing His people back to the land God gave them
Pray for a mighty wave of Aliyah — the return of Jewish people from the nations to Israel. The return at this time will be unlike any other.
This ancient path talked about in Jeremiah 6:16 has been very well travelled by Jewish people, and by the birds. It is the only path for them to travel on. For the birds, some call it the “songbird highway.”

Israel Marks 700 Days of War as Gaza City Offensive Looms
September 5, 2025, marks 700 days since the “Iron Swords” war began on October 7, 2023, making it the longest conflict in Israel’s history. The toll of nearly two years of fighting weighs heavily on the nation, especially as families of the 48 hostages still in Gaza cry out for an agreement that will secure their release. Meanwhile, the sounds of Israel’s Defense Forces grow ever louder around Gaza City, signaling preparations for what many hope will be the decisive offensive. The goal remains clear: to shatter Hamas’ hold on Gaza and force its complete, unconditional surrender. Meanwhile, the U.S. is raising pressure to force Hamas to capitulate and release all the remaining hostages in one go.

Israel Recovers Bodies of Two Israeli Hostages
Israel confirmed the recovery of two hostages’ bodies from Gaza in a military operation on Friday: Ilan Weiss, a Kibbutz Be’eri security team member killed while defending his community on October 7, and Idan Shtivi, a 28-year-old photographer murdered after being taken from the Nova music festival. Weiss was remembered as a devoted family man and protector of his kibbutz, while Shtivi was celebrated for his courage and love of life. Leaders including PM Netanyahu, President Herzog, and Defense Minister Katz paid tribute, pledging to keep working until every hostage - living or fallen - is returned. The Hostages and Missing Families Forum called it a painful reminder of the urgent mission still ahead, urging the nation not to rest until all captives are home.
As it stands, 48 hostages remain in Gaza, with about 20 believed still alive.

Israel Believes Houthi Leadership Hit in Yemen Strikes
The IDF believes that last Thursday’s airstrikes in Yemen may have eliminated the entire Houthi cabinet, including the prime minister and 12 other ministers, though officials caution results are not yet confirmed. Reports from Yemeni media claimed Prime Minister Ahmed al-Rahawi and several companions were killed in Sanaa, while another strike targeted senior military leaders gathered outside the capital. The IDF confirmed it aimed at Defense Minister Muhammad al-Attafi and Chief of Staff Muhammad Al-Ghamari, both top figures in the Iran-backed group. Since March, Houthis have launched more than 70 missiles and 20 drones at Israel, prompting repeated Israeli strikes. Despite denials from Houthi sources, officials framed Thursday’s operation as Israel’s most significant attempt yet to cripple the group’s leadership.

Israel to Refill the Sea of Galilee with Desalinated Water
After years of drought and sinking water levels, Israel is about to pull off a world first: pumping desalinated Mediterranean seawater into the Sea of Galilee. The lake, long considered the country’s national reservoir, has hovered dangerously close to the “black line,” where drawing water becomes damaging to its complex ecosystem. Now, after nearly a decade of planning, the Water Authority will reverse Israel’s National Water Carrier, sending desalinated water eastward instead of westward. Starting this fall, up to 5,000 cubic meters per hour will flow in, eventually tripling as new plants open. Beyond stabilizing the lake, the project will also revive local streams and ecosystems. With climate change making droughts more common, Israel hopes this bold experiment becomes a model for the world.

Red Paint Attack Disrupts Israeli Singer’s Warsaw Concert
Israeli classical singer David D’Or had his Warsaw concert violently interrupted when a pro-Palestinian activist stormed the stage, waving a Palestinian flag and splashing red paint on him. The shocking act, which D’Or said reminded him of the horrors of October 7, left both him and the orchestra covered in stains that looked like blood. Despite the chaos, he tried to calm the frightened audience, leading them in song and prayer. Security quickly removed the woman, but the incident highlighted the growing wave of anti-Israel protests across Europe, which many Israelis now fear is making travel unsafe. D’Or later shared the moment online, calling it a painful reminder of the hate spreading beyond the battlefield.

900th IDF Soldier Fallen Since War Began
Sergeant First Class (res.) Ariel Lubliner, 34, from Kiryat Bialik, was killed Friday in southern Gaza, becoming the IDF’s 900th fatality of the war. A logistics soldier in the 36th Division, Lubliner was fatally struck by what the army believes was accidental fire from a comrade during clashes in Khan Younis. He leaves behind his wife, Barbara, and their 9-month-old son, Lior. Born in Brazil, he immigrated to Israel about a decade ago, later settling in Kiryat Bialik in Israel's north. He had been serving since June and was set to complete reserve duty Sunday. His death follows that of Lt. Ori Gerlic, 20, killed last week in Khan Younis. Earlier Saturday, seven soldiers were wounded when an armored vehicle hit a roadside bomb in Gaza.

Hamas Chief Feasting Underground While Gazans Went Hungry
The IDF released images of Hamas Rafah Brigade commander Muhammad Shabana dining underground weeks before his death in May. Photos recovered from a tunnel showed him hosting an iftar meal with terrorists, featuring meat, fish, falafel, and other dishes, while Gaza civilians faced food shortages, again proving Hamas' responsibility for the food shortage in Gaza. Shabana, who commanded four battalions including the elite Nukhba unit that led the October 7 massacre, was killed May 13 alongside Mohammed Sinwar in a precision strike near Gaza’s European Hospital. The operation, approved by top Israeli officials, used over 50 munitions within 30 seconds to destroy the tunnel without harming hospital operations. Shabana, long a senior Hamas figure, had survived previous assassination attempts; three of his terrorist sons were eliminated earlier in the war.
