Dear Reader ,
In July, the EaP CSF held the 4th Eastern Partnership Youth Conference - Youth for Revitalisation of Democracy. The event gathered more than 100 young leaders who discussed how to increase meaningful youth participation in decision-making and make the voices of young people heard on local, national, regional and international levels.
In addition, Working Group members continued their discussions on the pertinent problems existing in the EaP countries and the future of the Eastern Partnership, especially in the light of Ukraine and Moldova obtaining EU candidacy status and Georgia receiving a European perspective. Discussions about the future of the EaP continued during the Steering Committee meeting that took place in Brussels.
Ana Otilia Nutu, Steering Committee Co-Chair of the EaP CSF and Energy Policy Analyst at the Think Tank Expert Forum, and Ana Furtuna, Director of the Secretariat of the EaP CSF, argue that capping Russian gas prices would not only be effective, but a moral European response to Russia’s aggression against Ukraine in the op-ed Europe’s gas crisis: Why a price cap on Russian natural gas works better than a saving plan.
In the Steering Committee statement in solidarity with the people of Vinnytsia and in condemnation of the Russian targeting of civilians, SC members call upon the international community to ensure due investigation and prosecution for all violations and crimes committed by the Russian forces, including their political superiors.
Yours,
EaP CSF Secretariat
