I've had a long, and honestly weird, relationship with poetry.
I don't write much poetry that isn't cut-up or black out and for that reason I have never felt like a "real poet". I'm just recycling someone else's words.
In fact, to that point, I don't say I "write" poetry. I always refer to it as "building".
This is despite long conversations with various people who refuse to accept this problem with calling myself a poet. Who swear not everyone can do what I do.
While I struggle to identify as poet, I don't have any problem with saying I am an oracle of sorts. Because my poetry feels more like the wisdom and beauty of something beyond, flowing through me.
So when my friend, Em, sent me the quote below today, I felt seen.
I mean, really seen.
