Vol. 10, October 2021

The month of October was the halfway point for many of our fall programs and provided our students with the chance to travel to exciting new places. Continue reading to see some of the great places our programs visited this month.

HUE

One of the perks of Harding University in England (HUE) is living in London. Not only does London have a wealth of places to visit, but it also serves as a great starting point to embark on day trips to see what else England has to offer. Greenwich is a short distance away from London and is where students can straddle the Prime Meridian, as seen in the picture. An even more noteworthy trip for HUE this month was the visit to Scotland. Here you can see some students overlooking Edinburgh and entering St. Andrews Castle. HUE has finished its time in the United Kingdom and the group is now in Italy for the next few weeks, followed by a 10-day trip to Spain.

HUF

The four-day trip to Rome that Harding University in Florence (HUF) students took earlier this month is often one of the highlights of the entire semester for many. With sites like the Colosseum, the Roman Forum, the Pantheon, the Trevi Fountain, Vittoriano, as well as various piazzas, churches and more, it's easy to see why Rome is often a favorite place to visit: the Eternal City has something for everyone!

HUG

The Harding University in Greece (HUG) group's first trip outside of Greece took them to Turkey this month. There they spent seven days touring numerous sites, including the Seven Churches of Asia found in the book of Revelation (Ephesus, Smyrna, Pergamum, Thyatira, Sardis, Philadelphia, and Laodicea), as well as other locations, like Cappadocia. At the end of October, the HUG group rendezvoused with the HIZ group in Egypt for a week-long tour of the country together, which we will include in next month's newsletter.

HIZ

You may recall from last month's newsletter that HUG and HIZ spent September together in Greece. However, by the beginning of October, the HIZ group had finally made their way to Zambia. During the month, they visited Victoria Falls, settled into life on the Namwianga Mission, and took a safari ride in Botswana.

HUA turns 25

This semester marks the 25th anniversary of the Harding University in Australasia (HUA) program! We would like to thank Pam Little for directing the program since its beginning. She's looking forward to hosting a group next fall (which is almost full, one spot remains). Sign up now to claim that last spot! We would also like to thank Heather Kemper for providing these photos from HUA 1996.

Banner Month for Study Abroad Applications!

During the month of October, we took in 71 new study abroad applications (and there are still a few days left)! This is the second most number of applications we've received in one month during the past seven years. The only month to surpass October 2021 during this timeframe was April 2021 with 120 applications. We are excited that so many students are planning to study abroad with us!
