It's a tough time to be raising teens, , and just when you think you've got enough to worry about, our teens start getting into relationships and a whole new avenue of concern arises.
You will be aware that we have horrific rates of violence in New Zealand - including that of intimate partner violence. What you might not be aware of is that
adolescents between 15 and 19 have the highest rate of intimate partner violence in New Zealand.
Yes, sadly, you read that right. And it's not just our girls (although it is 1 in 3); I in 8 men in our country experience physical, emotional or financial abuse by their partner, and the rate is more than twice as high for our LGBTQIA+ community.
The problem often seems so big, it's hard to know where to start - but there is something you CAN do to help your teens protect themselves, and their friends.
