Free Tax Help for Federal Tax Filing

It’s just a few weeks until the 15 April tax filing deadline! As a nonresident in the US you have a tax filing obligation with the IRS, even if you did not receive US income.

Failure to file can lead to complications when applying for US visas in the future.

Madison College has arranged free access to Sprintax Tax Preparation for you for your Federal tax filing. Sprintax will guide you through the tax preparation process, arrange the necessary documents and check if you are due a tax refund. They are also able to help you file your State taxes for an additional fee.

All you need to do is:

1. Register with Sprintax
2. Complete the online questionnaire
3. Enter your unique code: SpR20MDC51F in the box on the ‘Review your order’ page
4. Sprintax will prepare your tax return

Finally, once you complete the preparation process in the Sprintax software, you must print, sign and mail your documents to the IRS.

Enrollment and WNA Reminder

Enrollment and WNA Reminder: F-1 Students must be enrolled full time (12 credits) and participate in classes to maintain their status. Instructors monitor participation in both online and in-person courses. If you are not signing in to your online classes and are not completing any of the work, an instructor may choose to issue a WNA grade for your course, which means you have been withdrawn for failure to attend. If an instructor gives you a WNA, this class will NOT count toward your full-time enrollment. If the WNA puts your below the required 12-credits, you must enroll in another course to get back to 12-credits to maintain your F-1 status.

International Student Scholarships

Madison College offers two scholarships for F-1 visa students - Devi Bhargava Memorial International Student Scholarship and International Student Foundation Scholarship. Apply by March 31st. Find out more information on the International tab of the scholarships web page.

Global Showcase

The Center for International Education (CIE) and United Common Ground (UCG) are virtually hosting the 12th Annual Global Showcase.
