Deals, steals, and news from author Michelle Isenhoff.

Ever set out from your house with a destination in mind only to end up somewhere completely different? I had plenty of those moments when I was writing my Taylor Davis series. Snarky and adventurous, with tech that would make 007 drool, it's been a hit with the middle grade crowd. At one point, my hero had to complete some research at the London Archives. Instead of the quick, get-the-info-and-go scene I had imagined, Taylor ends up screeching through the city streets crammed in a three-wheeled car that smells of cats with an oversized guardian angel and an allergic tech-head, fleeing a shape-shifter in cahoots with an undead pirate. Yeah. Kids dig this stuff. If you know one who'd enjoy the wild galavants of Taylor and crew, Flame of Findul is free everywhere.

Anyway, while I was on this little detour, I had a second unexpected moment. I was browsing 3-wheel cars so I could accurately describe one and came across this image. It's not the model I chose for my story, but it did make it into a personal photo collage. See, only a month before my girl had surgery to remove a leg. A difficult few weeks, but I did have to appreciate the humor. (Bailey, btw, is now 11, cancer-free, and still faithfully keeping my feet warm while I write.)

Before you go, be sure to check out the books and promos featured below. They're always free or bargain priced. I generally bounce between speculative and historical fiction (the main genres I write in), and sometimes some fantasy, middle grade, or a bit of romance, just to keep things interesting.

Oh, one more thing... Many of you tried to download Ella Wood last time after all my talk about the Black Civil War soldiers and found that Amazon had bumped the price up on the US and Canada stores. That's been fixed. It's free everywhere again.

Happy reading!

K.A. PARKINSON is a RONE winner who writes clean YA fantasy. Her book A Chosen Life is just .99 and kicks off a 4-book (so far) series. The Chosen Redemption (book 4) releases soon, and pre-orders are specially priced at 1.99. Check out the blurb beneath the cover image for all sorts of cool swag! Creatures of the Dark are hunting Tolen because of the abilities he’s worked to suppress. Abilities that signal a destiny he couldn’t possibly have imagined. Meanwhile, sixteen-year-old Macy has battled the Dark nearly all her life, but monsters and demons are nothing compared to Tolen, the unruly boy she is forced to save and then train—a pursuit that awakens her compassion and shakes the walls around her fractured heart.

Giselle has never known love, acceptance, or what it means to belong to a pack. A child of the foster system, she's been rejected by more families than she can count. Because no one wants a freak!

So, when a family of shifters offers to adopt her, it's like a dream come true, until Giselle discovers they're involved in a deadly power struggle dividing the paranormal factions in Las Vegas. When the body of a dead shifter is found in the desert, Giselle's new foster family is accused of the murder. Lines are drawn in the sand and, before she's even unpacked her bags, Giselle is forced to chose her side.

Unless she can unearth the truth, and find the true murderer, before war breaks out, joining a pack might just send Giselle six feet under instead of back into the foster system.
