Agriculture – A large $750 million bio-fermentation plant is looking for sites with rail and river. A Grundy County site is under consideration for the project which has a 3-year construction phase with up to 750-1,000 tradespeople.
Energy – Two energy component manufacturers are looking for sites to construct clean energy equipment. Access to strong infrastructure and power is key. Sites have been submitted.
Transportation – CN Railroad continues with its plans to construct an intermodal terminal along US Rt. 6. The privately funded terminal anticipates creating 600 construction jobs during the terminal development phase. The second phase of the project includes nearly 8 million square feet of logistics facilities.
Battery Component Manufacturing – Although the EV/battery market has slowed, interest in development continues. Two projects are under consideration for Grundy County. They need significant power and public infrastructure.
Data Centers – Just to the north in Kendall County (Yorkville & Plano), multiple data centers have been announced. The data center market continues to be very active including interest in Grundy County.
