Please Note: The format for Folkmail is a weekly (Mon-Sun) listing of folk related events listed in chronological order. Some of you might find that your email client requires you to click on a 'View entire message' link to see the last day or so's events. - Julie

Seeking St Albans History Details - Attention 'old folkies' in particular.
A history of the St Albans Folk Festival is being compiled & we are looking to update & add to what we currently have. Unfortunately, many of those who were there in the early days have now passed on & we'd like to capture this historical info before it is too late. We would be happy to receive any documents, photos, anecdotes, memories, insights, reviews, financial docs, Committee meeting Minutes, etc that you have of the St Albans Folk Festival, for any period. However, we are specifically interested in any information pre- 1989, & in particular, the years 1981, 1982, 1988 & 1989. (A copy of the festival programme for 1989 would be nice.) Quite a bit of information & documentation has been collected but we'd like to receive anything that is missing from our collection. We would especially like to hear from people about their first hand experiences of the festival over the years. ie things that stood out for you, your memories etc.If you can help please contact me (Bilbo) so I can check if we already have the info/docs/images etc you can provide. If not, we will be happy to pay postage for or arrange pick up of any new material.
Note - We are also looking for someone with the skills to take this information & write up the history of the festival, for publication into a booklet. Suitable remuneration can be considered/negotiated.
Bilbo, St Albans Festival Manager. 0410 584 533
