AURORA Highlights
March 2020
Spring is a time to come out of your winter shell and get back to purposefully making Community Connections
Cultivation of Community

My favorite part of yoga is community — the coming together of humans of all shapes, sizes, backgrounds, ages, interests to share the same experience.

Science tells us that being in a healthy community is good for us. The vibration of positive-minded people raises our vibrational frequency, and this shared joy elevates our spirits.  Plus, positive energy creates and attracts more positive energy!  So, communities that breed higher vibration contribute to raising consciousness for all.

What a beautiful gift for The Pas, OCN and RM of Kelsey!

Why Yoga Increases Feelings of Connection

While many people turn to yoga to reduce stress, an equal number go to yoga class in order to experience a greater sense of connection—with themselves and with each other. We come in to class feeling separate, disconnected, even resentful (Why did she put her mat so close to mine?). We leave smiling, warmed by each other (Hope I see her again next week!). Why? According to research, yoga may increase feelings of social connection in several key ways.

Yoga enhances body systems related to social connection.

Research shows that can yoga improve the function of the vagus nerve, a key nerve in stress resilience. People with low vagal tone tend to have trouble recovering from stressful events, while people with high vagal tone tend to recover with greater ease (see other blog). In addition to indicating one’s level of resilience against stress, vagal tone is also correlated with feelings of social connection.

Fridays 12:00 - 12:40 pm
Yoga Friday Lunch

End your week in the right mindset...focusing on self care. This 40 minute session will move in a flow for 30 minutes and end with a 10 minute meditation. Enjoy the rest of your afternoon leading into the weekend.

Synchronized movement creates bonding.

Studies suggest that, as a group of yoga students breathes and moves together, a mental synchronization is taking place as well. As our bodies synch, our brains may be synching, too. You leave class feeling a part of something larger than yourself, because your brain has been part of something larger than itself—kind of like a big, happy mind-meld.

Tuesdays 6:00 -7:00 pm
Yin Yang Yoga

Hard to resist over-indulging - but this Yin Yang Yoga class can help with that!  We'll burn some calories by heating the body but then cool your mind right down after.

Thursdays 6:00 - 7:00 pm
Yoga for Beginners

Want to incorporate mindfulness, yoga and meditation into your daily life but not feeling confident to dive right into a yoga class? Then this class is for you - starts with just an... inhale...then an exhale.

Presence increases connection.

It turns out that the ability to be fully present in the moment has a powerful effect on social bonding. When we’re fully present with another person, we increase the likelihood of experiencing a sense of union and connection. Without presence, those benefits are watered down.

March 7th 1-3pm and 3-5pm
Oracle/Tarot Card Readings

Oracle and Tarot cards are a form of divination, which literally means working with the divine, or your higher self.  When used together, the cards can provide you with a glimpse or outlook into yourself and your future.  The three Tarot Interpreters will be Jana Dutkiewicz, Adrianna Sawchyn and Shayla Johnson who will each be working with a different selection of Tarot and Oracle decks.

Limited spots so register early!

March 21st 4:00 - 8:00 pm
Spring Equinox Sweat Lodge Ceremony

The Spring Equinox is a powerful time to tune into gratitude, reflection and to prepare for Spring where the beautiful opportunity to journey outward emerges soaking up the increased sunlight. It is a beautiful time to honour how far you’ve come and return to balance and presence before continuing onward in the journey through life.

Join the Sisterhood community on Facebook
March 19th 6:00 - 7:15 pm
So let's connect together as a community and celebrate Spring!

"Spring cleaning" isn't limited to what you're doing with your closets. Celebrate the spring equinox (the first official day of spring) by clearing out what isn't serving you in your life anymore and making room for what does. It's the perfect time to de-clutter, become empowered, and create intentions for what you want.

So join Denise and Adrianna to "plant the seeds you want to grow" now that the sunlight is increasing as we enter Spring.
