WHO Digital COVID-19 Vaccination Infrastructure

Estonian Prime Minister Jüri Ratas & WHO Director General Dr. Tedros Adhanom had signed an agreement to allow Estonian entrepreneurs and researchers to start working on a digital immunization certificate and interoperability projects. Estonia's first project will be working with the yellow vaccination card which will enable a reliable and transparent cross-border exchange of vaccination data. It can be used once the coronavirus vaccine has been developed. 

India launches property card scheme for rural households

Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched the physical distribution of property cards under the “SVAMITVA” (ownership) scheme through video-conferencing yesterday. He said these cards would be given to every rural household across the country over the next 3-4 years.

Aadhar announces PVC card - Hologram to ensure physical security

Aadhaar card, considered as one of the vital documents for proving identity in India, now comes in a smart size that fits into a card slot of a wallet like any other ATM or debit card. The card will be reprinted on Polyvinyl Chloride (PVC) card said Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) that issues the Aadhaar card. The all-new Aadhaar PVC card incorporate latest security features including a hologram, Guilloche pattern, ghost image, and micro text.

Saudi Arabia launches polymer version of five-riyal banknote

The Saudi Arabian Monetary Authority launched a new polymer five-riyal banknote on October 5. The new note – the country’s first to be printed on polymer – retains the visual design of the existing cotton-based note, but incorporates some new security features, Sama said in a statement. The polymer notes will circulate alongside the existing cotton notes. Additional security features include a window and ink that changes colour when the note is tilted.

Nepal Security Printing Press Construction Started

Printing press would be completed at a cost of Rs 33 billion. The government had decided to establish the security printing press at the IT Park for printing passport, bank notes, driving licence, smart cards, postal tickets and SIM cards.
