News from St. Andrew's - September 23, 2020

Dear St. Andrew’s Community:

This past Sunday morning, the congregation unanimously and enthusiastically voted to call Rev. Jennifer Fraser to be the next pastor at St. Andrew's.  Rev. Fraser, her husband and youngest daughter joined us via Zoom from their home in Tempe, Arizona; the older two daughters are away at college.  Jen plans to move here in early November to find an apartment, catch her breath, and settle in.  Her daughter and husband will remain in Arizona until high school is completed. No doubt there will be many trips back and forth.

Jen's first day at St. Andrew's will be December 1. What better time for everyone to begin than advent, a season full of expectation and joy?

Your Pastor Nominating Committee did a stellar job navigating and completing their task.

As we all begin to prepare for Jen's arrival, we will all be doing whatever is needed to insure a strong and productive start.

This Sunday we resume the "Glimpses of Paradise" series. When I began this series, I asked Scott Eschbach, a long-time hospice volunteer, to take a Sunday to share some of the meaningful times he has had at the bedside of patients who are making the transition from this life to what lies beyond.  He quickly agreed, and you can look forward to hearing his experiences and perspective this weekend.

I am grateful the fires have diminished and the heat has eased. And I am very grateful to see that St. Andrew's is ready to step into its exciting next chapter.

Steve
