Happy New Year! Welcome to our January newsletter, where we feature events for adults 21+ that you might consider for a date night, girls' night or any other reason to head out sans children.

Champaign-Urbana has a TON of adult-friendly, outside-the-box ideas that are happening THIS month, so that you can book a babysitter, make reservations and plan a grownup night out weeks in advance. Some ideas are free (yeah!); others might be more of a splurge, and there is something for everyone.

Date night ideas coming up this month in Champaign-Urbana

Create at Champaign Public Library: Make a vision board at Champaign Public Library on Jan. 8. The event is free but registration is required; opens Jan. 2. The new year is the perfect time to set goals for yourself and envision the future you want. An excellent way to work on those goals is by creating a vision board.

Free dance night: We can't get to an island, so why not bring the islands to us? Free dance night -- inspired by the islands -- at Gallery Art Bar on Jan. 10. Get more details here.

Beer and Cheese pairings: Dive into the world of beer and cheese pairing at Riggs Beer Company in Urbana on Jan. 12. Five different Riggs beers and an assortment of meats and cheeses will be provided. Ticketed event will limited availability. Get more info here.

Rotary Comedy Night: Support the Rotary Club of Champaign while enjoying a night of laughter on Jan. 16. The Chicago Comedy All-Stars will be featured at Jupiter's at the Crossing. Tickets are $30 and seats are limited. Get the details here.

Allerton Park Supper Club: Chef Benny DelValley serves up a French-inspired meal at the first Supper Club of the year on Jan. 18 at Allerton's Mansion Carriage House. But don't delay: Tickets must be purchased by Jan. 3. Find more details here.

Third Tuesday Stitching Circle: Want some company while you craft? Bring your fiber art project and supplies for an evening of social stitching (knit, crochet, embroider, etc.) at the Urbana Free Library on Jan. 21. More details here.

Jontavious Willis Band: A Grammy-nominated musician and songwriter, Willis performs original, toe-tapping tunes in the style of Delta, Piedmont, Texas, and gospel blues. His dynamic vocals, technical prowess, and abundance of Southern charm send jolts of vitality through the audience, reinvigorating today’s blues with the spirit of the past.
