Here is a question I recently received from a confused colour consultant:
âI just find the categories so confusing. Iâm still at the stage where I think people do more or less fit into one of the four seasons. I think if I were diagnosed as a âsoft mutedâ I wouldnât trust that diagnosis. Itâs too vague. I think some suit bright colours, say in the winter and spring palette, but at the end of the day they will suit one season better than the other. And this, âIâm a âsoftâ summer business. Really?? What is that? Iâm really not a fan of this very âliberalâ colour analysis.
People come to you desperate to look their best and itâs like weâre advised to say, âjust wear what you wantâ, because god forbid you tell them what they should wear. But isnât thatâs why theyâre paying big bucks to see you? Because theyâre clueless and want expert advice? Iâm not sure why itâs such an issue to tell people whatâs good for them. I think weâve not only over-complicated the colour thing, but I too feel weâre trying to tiptoe around the clients too scared to advise for some reasonâ.
My answers are in the video below.
