1.What is your definition of women empowerment? In all honesty, I don’t like the phrase “Women Empowerment” as it denotes a separation between the abilities of men and women and expresses a feeling that women aren’t already powerful. While I recognize in today’s world there are still vast differences between the parity of men and women in terms of equality and opportunity, “women empowerment” has the ability to champion positive change or great division depending on how it is used. 2.What motivated you to get involved in being inspirational for change? Ever since I was a little kid, I’ve been a champion for the underdog. Committed to mercy, justice and protection, I’ve taken a stand countless times for what is right vs what is popular. My desire was not about inspiration or being inspirational, rather to make a positive difference in the world for all who are called to a bigger mission or purpose. Leadership Tip #9: Beauty In Everyday Things At a workshop some time ago I came across an interesting Navajo word: Hózhó. Hózhó means to walk in beauty and to live in a way to create and maintain balance, harmony, beauty and order. Who does not want that? The path to this is actually simple. Do not wait for extraordinary events for you to come in contact with beauty. Practice searching for it every day in completely common tasks. Let's start by looking with different eyes, with playfulness and curiosity discovering beauty in everything around us and in everything we do. We'll start noticing what we overlook, how much beauty goes past us unnoticed every day. While training to discover beauty in everyday things, we're making shifts in the perception of it and beginning a journey following these steps: Beauty is all around me. Beauty is in me. Beauty glows from me. Re-discovered beauty that you have so far overlooked. Glow beauty.
This month's thought-provoking snippet

Be Heard Neither caution nor decorum should dictate our choices when it comes to making ourselves heard. For too long we have adhered to the rules set forth for us. But not anymore. Let our outrage be our language. Let our fury be our eloquence. Let our grief be our truth. We will tell the stories of the women who came before us. We will tell the tales of the women who stand with us. We will enable the women who come after us. We are taking back our narrative. We will pen our revolution. For years we’ve been told to “be seen, not heard”, to “know your place”, to “hold your tongue”. For years we have forced composure and caution in order to be taken seriously. But it is clear that we can’t be governed by the old rules anymore. We need to find our voices and use them. We need to speak for ourselves. We need to speak for others, particularly those that cannot speak for themselves. We need to do what we can to usher in change, so we can right the wrongs that were committed in the past, so we can take action in the present, and prevent these wrongs from being done in the future. I know that years of conditioning have instilled fear in us and make the words stick in our throats. But empowerment only begins when we decide we know the power and worth of our voices. So, speak, scream, shout, roar. We will make them listen. We will be heard. By Dulani Hannadige, WEG blog contributor - Sri Lanka
