The team working in Bauchi State, Nigeria, is attempting to address a common challenge found in participatory research - how can stakeholders be included in the data analysis process?
Last year, adolescents and other stakeholders created fuzzy cognitive maps to identify factors leading to good adolescent sexual and reproductive health (ASRH). Local research team members are now having these original map creators review the list of individual concepts identified across all the maps (200 concepts!), and group them into categories according to action; meaning, putting together related concepts that could be acted on together.
All groups, even adolescents as young as 10 years old, have been able to do this grouping and have found it enjoyable and engaging! See below some pictures from the ongoing efforts in Nigeria.
