$200,000 selling dyed yarn. Jake Kenyon started selling dyed yarn in 2019 and he's on track to make $200,000 in gross sales in 2021.
A lot of his recent revenue growth has to do with more people picking up knitting as a hobby (due to being stressed. stuck inside, or both), but even when he first started, there was an entire community for his craft.
And that's one of the keys to his growth:
"I posted on social media at least three to four times a week and spent every day networking and cultivating friendships in the knitting community on Instagram."
Marketing tactics like SEO can take months to show results, but direct networking can show results much faster.
Jake also found his own niche. With many other yarn dyers doing basic colors, Jake stood out by making unique, limited edition colorways. While this involved some risk, it paid off.
