Topsoil stripping and surveys continue
Despite the adverse weather conditions due to the storms, the contractor for the scheme, Buckingham Group, has been able to go ahead with most of their planned work on site. While most tasks are dependent on weather conditions, only an archaeological dig was postponed last week due to flooding, but the contractor has now started to survey the area.
The contractor has begun to strip another area of topsoil (as pictured) and move the sludge to a dedicated area.
General work, like road sweeping and haul road maintenance, is ongoing, as well as ongoing work with Thames Water to survey the existing pipes and ducts underneath the ground.
Keystone Ecology
Keystone Ecology has been undergoing routine ecological compliance checks to make sure all proper procedure of waste disposal, legal compliance and duty of care is being followed on site. They also continued to progress with ecological surveys, and entered into phase two of moving water vole habitats from the bridge. Phase one was the trimming of foliage on site.
Headland Archaeology
Headland Archaeology has been managing the excess water over the past few weeks to limit the potential for it to impact on the scheme. They have also been excavating land north and south of Wanborough Road.
