Non-musical micro leadership
Everyone in your choir is a leader at different times. Sometimes it might only last for 10secs. Could we call this micro-leadership?
When a singer open the door for a new singer and welcome them inside, they are being a leader. When they hand around the copies of the music, to their fellow section, it is the same.
In the classroom, if you have a disruptive child, one of the most powerful tools is to give them a job. But of course, teachers know they are giving them more than merely a job. They are giving them value, purpose, trust and a sense of worth. They are helping them be a leader.
Do this with a whole class, consistently over time, and they can change the culture.
This week, think about how you can create leadership moments within your choir? Who are the micro-leaders? Who can you encourage to become a micro-leader? Who can you empower?
