"After the Sabbath, as the first day of the week was dawning, Mary Magdalene and the other Mary went to see the tomb. And suddenly there was a great earthquake; for an Angel of the Lord, descending from Heaven, came and rolled back the stone and sat on it ...
But the Angel said to the women, "Do not be afraid; I know that you are looking for Jesus who was crucified. He is not here; for he has been raised, as he said. Come, see the place where he lay. Then go quickly and tell his disciples, 'He has been raised from the dead, and indeed he is going ahead of you to Galilee; there you will see him.' This is my message for you." "So they left the tomb quickly with fear and great joy, and ran to tell his disciples."
(Matthew 28. 1-10)

Message from Fr. Mike for Sunday, April 9 |
|
|
|
To the parishioners of St. Philip Neri Parish, sanctified in Christ Jesus, called to be saints –
"Grace and peace from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ”.
Who me?
And the Lord said, “Go!” … And I said, “Who me?” … God answered. “Yes, you!”
“But I’m not ready, Lord, and my friends are coming over. And I can’t leave my family. And you know, there is no one to take my place! … God said, “You’re stalling!”
And again, the Lord said, “Go!” … “But I don’t want! Listen, I’m not the type of person to get involved so deeply. Besides, my family wouldn’t like it – and what will the neighbors think?”
God answered, “Baloney!”
And yet a third time the Lord said, “Go!” … “Do I have to?” … “Do you love me?”
“Look, I’m scared. People are going to reject me and cut me up into little pieces. And I can’t take it all by myself!”
God replied, “Where do you think I’ll be? … And the Lord said, “Go!”
I answered timidly, “Here I am Lord, send me.”
Lord, help me to live, today, as a “Resurrected Person”.
Happy Easter!
Praise be Jesus Christ … and Mary Immaculate
St. Philip Neri … pray for us
St. Eugene de Mazenod … pray for us
St. Kateri Tekakwitha … pray for us
God is good … all the time.
Fr. Mike Dechant OMI

A Prayer for Ukraine
God of peace and justice, we pray for the people of Ukraine today. We pray for peace and the laying down of weapons. We pray for all those who fear for tomorrow, that your spirit of comfort would draw near to them. We pray for those with power over war or peace, for wisdom, discernment and compassion to guide their decisions. Above all, we pray for all your precious children at risk and in fear that you would hold and protect them. We pray in the name of Jesus the Prince of Peace. Amen.

Hi, Everyone!
This week, Lent draws to a close and we prepare our hearts and minds for the Triduum - and those blessed, impactful scriptures that vividly describe the events of Holy Thursday, Good Friday and ultimately Jesus' glorious resurrection on Easter! Although we are totally not worthy, Jesus, through his painful death, shows his great love for us and willingly makes the ultimate sacrifice so that we may all have the hope of salvation and, like him, a glorious new life with His Father in Heaven. As the trumpets blast and the bells ring, we sing "Christ is Risen, Alleluia, Alleluia!" I just LOVE feeling the power of God's love at the Easter Vigil and on Easter Sunday. What greater joy and blessing could there possibly be?!

Friday, May 5 & Saturday, May 6
All the women of St. Philip Neri Parish are invited to participate in this beautiful Retreat, using the seasons in nature as a metaphor for our lives. "Each season speaks to our hearts and life experience when we pay attention and listen attentively. Through scripture, music, ritual and reflection, the retreat team will invite us to notice how each season can enrich us, challenge us, and draw us closer to God."
Come join other women in our Parish, on Friday, May 5 and Saturday, May 6, from 9:30 am - 5:00 pm (both days), here at the church, for new inspiration, perspectives and encouragement! The Retreat cost is $100, with lunches provided by the Parish. As Fr. Mike has mentioned, no one will be turned away for lack of funds. Pay what you are able; the Parish will supplement the remainder of the costs.
Please RSVP by Saturday, April 15, by calling (306) 343-0325 or dropping by the Parish Office to register. Please consider joining us for this rare, impactful opportunity to learn, share and grow together as women, in all stages and seasons of life!

Divine Mercy Sunday
Sunday, April 16
Divine Mercy Sunday - "Jesus I Trust in You!" – A Diocesan Divine Mercy Sunday celebration will be held on Sunday, April 16 at 3:00 pm at the Cathedral of the Holy Family, 123 Nelson Road. Please note that this is not a Sunday Mass, but rather it is a Holy Hour of special prayers and hymns, including the Divine Mercy Chaplet, Exposition of the Blessed Sacrament, and a scripture reflection.
The Divine Mercy devotion is centred on the mercy of God and our trust in Jesus Christ. It is a devotion that grew out of the revelations and writings of a Polish nun, Saint Faustina Kowalska (1905-1938). Divine Mercy Sunday was established in 2000 by Saint Pope John Paul II to be celebrated on the first Sunday after Easter. The devotion includes a Divine Mercy prayer chaplet, and reflections on the Divine Mercy image of Jesus given to Saint Faustina (“Jesus, I Trust in You”). Everyone is welcome!
