Our Annual Review 2019 is published!

Last year was a significant year for JOIN with many highlights. We published the JOIN European First Aid Guidelines, increased our Volunteer Swap program, created a new Working Group, and started working on a new EU project. Read all about our multiple activities and main achievements of last year.

Annual Review 2019
Clinical Working Group meets in Paris

From 7th - 9th February, the JOIN Clinical Working Group met in Paris to progress in the drafting of European-wide First Aid Standards for Schools. The materials are designed to be interactive and provide opportunities for discussion and colouring in to make the experience of learning fun. Continue reading

Germany: Johanniter provides Emergency Aid to Kenya facing a Locust plague

Enormous swarms of locusts gathered in Kenya as a result of the severe flooding. The largest swarm measured in February covered an area of 2,400 square kilometres. A single square kilometre of the insects can in one day destroy the amount of food that may sustain 35,000 people for a day. Johanniter distributed food vouchers to affected families in the border region between Ethiopia and northern Kenya. An additional sum of 200,000 Euro allowed that extension of aid measures. Brexit: no impact on the Volunteer Swap

On 31st January, Britain and Northern Ireland exited the European Union and entered an 11-month transition period. During this time, new arrangements will be negotiated with the EU. For travellers, little changes until next year and our Volunteer Swap stays the same as always! This year you can travel to 7 events in the UK to participate as a volunteer in medical service as usual. You can join the team of St John Ambulance and other international volunteers to the London Marathon, the Wimbledon Championships, London Pride, the Notting Hill Carnival and many more here

Three new events have been published on our Volunteer Swap website: You can now also participate as a volunteer at the Sweden Rock Festival, the July Marches in Northern Ireland and the Joahnniter Day in Germany.

EU Projects
SecureHospitals.eu Review Meeting in Luxemburg

On Wednesday, 12th February, the consortium of the SecureHospitals.eu project travelled to Luxemburg for their review meeting. The partners presented in detail the work done so far, demonstrating results, facts and achievements reached during the first 14 months of the project lifetime and answered questions of the Project Officer and EU experts.

EUinAid mobility in Vienna and Budapest

Johanniter Austria hosted the participants of the EUinAid project for a week of First Aid training and sightseeing in Vienna. In the second week of February, youth workers travelled to Johannita Hungary in Budapest for skill-exchange. The professionals visited a school and the Emergency Control Centre as well as the helicopter station with our Hungarian member.

Second newsletter of the iProcureSecurity project

The latest newsletter of the iProcureSecurity Project has been published. In this edition, you can find more about our Emergency Medical Service Network, our participation in the EMS 2020 Congress, and further developments in the field of EMS.
