Principal’s Comments
Tālofa lava,
It's been a wonderful few weeks at BPS filled with learning both in and out of the classroom. We had great participation in Pink Shirt Day, an excellent Cross Country event, strong performances from our children at the Harbour Rugby festival, and lots of fun at BPOD. This week is also Samoan Language Week, with many classes learning Samoan songs and language.
Mālō lava (well done) to everyone in our school community for supporting the Obstacle Dash last Friday. The event was a huge success thanks to an amazing group of parent helpers. We also appreciate all the fundraising efforts from children and families. We raised over $22,000, which will be used for future school improvements.
Tomorrow evening, the PTA is hosting a Movie Night in the Hall, starting at 6:45 pm (arrival from 6:30 pm). This is always an exciting time for the children to enjoy an evening together. Children must be collected from the hall after the movie.
Teachers are currently preparing mid-year assessment reports. These reports will reflect the new literacy and mathematics curriculum and will differ from previous years. Parents will have the opportunity to discuss their child's learning at parent/teacher interviews. School will be closed for students on Monday, June 23rd, to allow teachers to hold these interviews.
Additionally, school will be closed on Friday, June 20th, for the Matariki public holiday. Our Kapa Haka will perform at the Bayswater Matariki Festival on Saturday, June 14th, and at the Devonport Community House on Sunday, June 22nd.
You are all invited to join us for our assembly tomorrow morning, where Room 14 will be presenting the class item.
Fa'afetai lava.
