For Immediate Release
Introducing our First Female Eagle Scout Class
East Hartford, CT, The Eagle Scout award is the highest achievement or rank attainable in the Scouts BSA program of the Boy Scouts of America. Since its inception in 1911, only four percent of Scouts have earned this rank after a lengthy review process. In 2019 Boy Scouts of America moved to allow girls into our flagship program. Two years later we welcome for the first time female Eagle Scouts.
Our class of the first five girls from Connecticut will join all the other girls from around the country who earn the rank between October 1 and February 8 in being part of the inaugural class of female Eagle Scouts. Each will have Feb. 8, 2021 marked on their official record and Eagle Scout certificate as the day they completed the rank. That date coincides with the 111th anniversary of the Boy Scouts of America.
Over the last 24 months, these girls have earned badges, had outdoor adventures, worked on community service projects, and displayed character and leadership throughout. Please join us in congratulating these five girls who are trailblazers in the truest sense of the word.
A media day will be held for the first class of female Eagle Scouts on Feb 20th at 10:00am at the Scout office in East Hartford.
Address:
60 Darlin St
E. Hartford CT, 06108
If you are planning on attending please contact Sean.fogle@scouting.org for arrangements and more details.
