The contractor, Britannia Construction Ltd, will start the first phase of the work on Monday 2 March, with the scheme due for completion in Autumn 2020.
This work will be between the Meads and Westmead roundabouts with this section of road being placed under a full 24/7 closure. A diversion route will be in place which will be clearly sign posted and access to businesses will be maintained at all times. It is anticipated that the first phase of works will take approximately 10 weeks to complete.
During this time, some of the work will include:
- Contractor setting up site
- Site clearance including the removal of Westmead roundabout
- Utility diversions
- Installation of new street lighting columns, road signage and lining
- Landscaping
- Construction of an additional lane northbound including surfacing
- Installation and connection of new gullies
- Installation of a signalised junction
Over the next few weeks you will begin to see signs going up near the site and around the town with the latest information to help make journeys safer and less disruptive for road users. You will also see the contactor on site as they start to set up.
