If you own a smartphone, chances are you have at least one game app loaded on it. Perhaps you’re a fan of the old standby Candy Crush Saga or you’re addicted to Hatoful Boyfriend, which—if you haven’t heard—is an interactive visual novel populated with super clever pigeons on the hunt for love. I kid you not! And get this: it follows a branching plot line where the player’s decisions affect the story’s outcome. Crazy!
I’m more of a word-game freak and am almost embarrassed to admit I’ve been playing Words with Friends daily since 2013. If you’re similarly addicted, you already know the joy of scoring that 110-point whammy against a player who’s way out of your league (Lyza, I’m talking to you!), or the fun of being matched with an opponent of similar ability (Ginny, you keep me on my toes!) or the admiration you feel for the player who, no matter how many times you crush them, they keep coming back for more (Daphne, I love your tenacity!). Oh, and then there’s your brother, who relies HEAVILY on suggestions from the Scrabble Cheat site to beat you (go ahead, Sean, prove me wrong!).
