More great things...
Show Up. Be Seen. Stand Out. Are You Game?

Hello again,

Welcome back to the "Great Things" newsletter!

This edition is coming to you from a last-minute spa day we booked, as an early Christmas gift to ourselves after the huge stresses of the past few weeks.

Onwards to the latest Great Thing that has had an impact on me...

The Latest & Greatest

This article is fascinating and smart – Three Big Things: The Most Important Forces Shaping The World.

It bent my brain for a bit and in wanting to share it, I questioned how and why it might be useful to anyone else – other than it's just the kind of thing I enjoy reading! These are some of the key points I've taken away from what I've read – I'd love to hear yours...

1. The impact of demographics, and the march towards an increasingly older working population will, I suspect, have an impact on how we review retirement and the whole concept of it.

I have no intention of 'retiring' at 65, and instead want to continue to build and grow something I believe in, continuing to work on it until I no longer have the passion or wherewithal to do so.

I don't think I'll be the only one viewing retirement differently in years to come. How do you view yours?

2. As I shared a few editions ago, one area already being shaken up by a precocious and alarmingly ambitious upstart is education; as the author states: "The current arrangement of needing a college degree in order to have a good chance at becoming and staying middle class, but taking on life-changing amounts of debt to do so if you don’t have family assistance, can’t last."

This has a HUGE impact on the current mindset many of us have about needing to be 'qualified' before we can be credible – qualifications and education can be useful but they aren't the ONLY measure of efficacy and someone's ability.

3. "People who have never had a voice can, practically overnight, have the biggest" – this is the impact of the internet and access to information like we've never had before.

It's yet another reminder that we live in a time of unparalleled access to all the information we could ever want and have access to tools that gives us a voice like we've never had before – which gives us a power we've never had before.

It begs the question: (How) Are you going to use this to your and others' benefit?

Show Up, Be Seen, Stand Out

I've just finished tweaking my website to outline the ways I'm going to be working in 2020.

  1. There's strategic support to help you show up.
  2. There's branding support to help you be seen.
  3. There's website support to help you stand out.

If I can help you do something great* in 2020, let me know – I'd love to be on your team!

By the way, ‘great’ is relative; you don’t have to be building the next Amazon to be great…it could be creating an income/building a business that fits around your kids and family (in my experience, that’s pretty great!).

In the meantime, I would love to hear if you're doing something great that you'd like to share, personal or professional...just hit 'reply' and drop me a line.
