November is not my favourite month, or at least it wasn’t until we understood that it marks the start of the black truffle (Tuber Melanosporuma) season. From November through March, those who know where to look for these lumps of black culinary gold keep the potential locations a closely guarded secret. Sought after by chefs and food lovers, the black truffle will fetch about ten (10) times the price (per kilo) compared to summer truffles.
The other great thing about November in Provence the Christmas markets begin to appear in villages and larger centres like Aix-en-Provence. It’s never too early in the day for a vin chaud.
