In celebration of Benjamin Britten's 100th anniversary in 2013, the SSO presented his monumental War Requiem, a large-scale 20th century masterpiece requiring two orchestras, two choirs and three soloists. The work includes the setting of nine poems by Wilfred Owen, the greatest poet of the First World War. An instant success, the War Requiem was written for the reconsecration of Coventry Cathedral after the 14th century original was destroyed during the Second World War. BELANG (Save Our Malayan Tiger 2020) is a visual arts exhibition held to create public awareness on the Malayan Tiger, which is on the brink of extinction. The gallery at Penang State Art Gallery, Dewan Sri Pinang, is now open from Saturday to Tuesday, 10am to 4pm.
