As our celebration of grandparents continues this morning, there are several beautiful examples in Scripture about the precious blessing that the relationship between grandparents and grandchildren can be. Here are a few…
Genesis 31:55 states…“Early the next morning Laban kissed his grandchildren and his daughters and blessed them. Then he left and returned home.”
2 Timothy 1:5 reads…“I am reminded of your sincere faith, which first lived in your grandmother Lois and in your mother Eunice and, I am persuaded, now lives in you also.”
Genesis 48:9 reminds us…“Joseph said to his father, ‘They are my sons, whom God has given me here.” And he said, “Bring them to me, please, that I may bless them.”
Grandparents are charged to help train and teach the grandchildren in how to live lives that honor God.
Deuteronomy 4:9 commands…“Only take care, and keep your soul diligently, lest you forget the things that your eyes have seen, and lest they depart from your heart all the days of your life. Make them known to your children and your children’s children.”
To God Be the Glory that the Bible clearly teaches us to incorporate our grandparents in our lives for they are a vital aspect of God’s family plan. They provide a legacy that no one else can. They provide teaching and prayers and lessons that no one else can. Being a grandparent is such a tremendous blessing. What an honor it is to have godly grandparents!
