👋
Hey Mori crew,
Alright, alright. I have to apologise for last month’s accidental click-bait. 🥲 After sending our last newsletter through we received tons of emails with messages along the lines of “don’t scare us like that!”.
So no, it is not the end of Mori Film Lab. Mori is doing great and we’re still working hard to do even better. We were actually talking about our infamous Noritsu scanner. For those we missed the story, almost one year ago we ordered a Noritsu HS-1800 scanner from Hong Kong, which is kinda the Rolls Royce of lab scanners, It’s also really expensive (around 15 000 euros). And so far we haven’t been able to use it as it’s never been in working condition. We sent several parts back for repair and finally had to send back the whole scanner a few months ago with the promise of getting a working unit as a replacement. BUT GUESS WHAT !? Sometimes the universe is just testing you, and the "new scanner" we received, has new problems, bringing us back to square one. 🙃
But, it’s ok. That’s what the #lablife is all about. Anyway, we received some other exciting things this month! Like 650 rolls of 35mm Porta 400, just before the price increase. Also: a GORGEOUS Hasselblad Xpan kit What else? Oh just the most beautiful Contax T2 and a lot of more affordable point and shoots.
But the best one of them all is a much anticipated, custom processor we received from Poland. We’ll talk a bit more about it later in this newsletter. ☺️
Now what else is happening? Well a lot. We’ve been receiving a lot more rolls in than expected so our turnaround times are slightly longer than usual but this shouldn’t last too long as we’re working extra hard to get you your scans. 💪
There are also new Darkroom courses planned in and a last minute photowalk this Sunday, you can join us at 10:30 AM at the lab. You can RSVP right here to help us organise the walk better.
Take care,
Raph & Cole
