Hi,
Diet plans are a major pet peeve of mine.
And the more time I spend in the online fitness space. The more I keep seeing them.
I don't put any of my clients on a diet plan and there is a reason for that.
"Feed a man a fish and you feed him for a day. Teach a man to fish and you feed him for a lifetime."
My goal is to empower the people who choose to invest in me. Not cripple them.
If you are reliant on a diet plan you can't make long-term progress. Life is unpredictable and you need tools that can adapt to your circumstances.
Having a diet plan creates an 'all-or-nothing' mentality.
When you mess up one meal. You feel like you have ruined the whole plan and go completely off track for the day.
This is not the only problem.
Most diet plans out there are cookie-cutter ones. Meaning you get the same thing as everyone else.
Your lifestyle is unique. Your food habits are unique.
Someone else's way of eating will not be sustainable for you.
I'll let you in on another secret. The people selling diet plans themselves don't follow a diet plan.
I have never followed a diet plan in my life.
And I have been able to maintain great body composition even in unfavourable environments where I had zero control over the food being served.
I want you to be able to do the same.
If someone gives you a diet plan. You should run in the opposite direction.
Because it is a short term fix for a problem that requires a better solution.
Learn to control portion sizes.
A quick way to fix your current diet is to start prioritising lean protein consumption. Start basing your meals around a protein source instead of a carb source.
The process has a learning curve to it. But it will be a long-term investment that will pay dividends throughout your life.
Unlike diet plans.
Which will keep you going back to square one every few months.
