MESSAGE

from the Chairperson of Purnomo Yusgiantoro Center

Greetings from Purnomo Yusgiantoro Center!

On January 2019, we delivered our first PYC Energy Short Course. In collaboration with P3TK EBTKE of the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resource, the topic of the course is “Energy Efficiency towards SNI ISO 50001”. This event gave a broader practical knowledge to the participants in the energy sector, especially in implementing energy efficiency and conservation.

We also carry out a Purnomo Yusgiantoro Center (PYC) Business Case Competition at Integrated Petroleum Festival (IPFEST) 2019. The event was held by the student organization of Petroleum Engineering Program from Institut Teknologi Bandung (ITB). As one of the judges, I am honored to meet all the resourceful and talented participants in the competition. This competition indeed boosted the students' competency and prepared them to face real challenges.

On March 2019, another PYC Knowledge Sharing Series (KSS) is held. The KSS addressed a topic of “Mengawal Masa Depan Energi Indonesia: 2019 – 2024 (Escorting the Future of Indonesia’s Energy: 2019 – 2024)”. In the event, the PYC research team delivered their recent study and recommendations on Indonesia’s future energy challenges, both in fossil and non-fossil energy sector. We also invited respected experts in order for us to receive suggestions and recommendations for our study.

We also involved in events at several universities: the Grand Opening of UKM Inovasi Energi of Pertamina University and a National Seminar in Renewable Energy for National Security held by Politeknik Negeri Semarang (Semarang State Polytechnic). Our researcher, Ms. Massita Ayu Cindy, was honored to be a speaker in the opening event talking on how innovation in the energy sector could impact the energy production growth in Indonesia. In the National Seminar by Politeknik Negeri Semarang, our founder, Prof. Purnomo Yusgiantoro delivered the concept of energy security to support national security and the role of renewable energy in Indonesia. Meanwhile, Ms. Massita gave a presentation on the current development of renewable energy and addressed some recommendation on renewable energy development.

We also supported Institut Teknologi Bandung (ITB) Rapid Chess Series 2019 held by Persatuan Catur Mahasiswa (PERCAMA) ITB. The participants competed for Prof. Purnomo Yusgiantoro Trophy and money prizes. This competition provides a place for the chess participants to test and improve their chess skill.

It is exciting again for us to publish the Indonesian Journal of Energy (IJE) Vol. 2 No. 1.  This is a special issue as the selected research papers covered issues only on energy law, policy and governance. We thank guest editors of this special issue: Prof. Hikmahanto Juwana, Dr. Herman Darnel and Dr. Alexander Ery Wibowo.

As for reminder, PYC International Energy Conference 2019 will be held this November. Call for Paper submission is already opened. For this year's conference, we collaborated with the Student Energy Summit (SES) 2019. The best paper's author will be sponsored to attend the SES 2019 event in London so do not miss the first deadline for paper submission on April 26, 2019. For more information, please kindly refer to our website at www.pyc-conferences.org.

Lastly, we thank those who have supported and participated in PYC’s activities. We hope to have more collaboration with other institutions or universities in the energy sector.

Let's make a better future!
