Hi friend,
I'm sending you my best, having just left the Philippines, where the water is blue. Yes, that's me snorkeling in the image above! However, this last week Typhoon Betty (Mawar) brought us rain and stormy seas. I included a travel update at the end on how that may disrupt our plans.
I'm sending my newsletter early in June, so you don't miss a great opportunity this coming week with Women's Fiction Day.
Women's Fiction Day - June 8th
I'm a proud member of Women's Fiction Writers Association. Once a year they sponsor an event designed to celebrate the genre - and most importantly, reward readers who appreciate the power of a great story.
This year's Women's Fiction Day has a ton of special offers and giveaways, including signed book copies, audiobooks, Starbucks and Amazon gift cards, and entire book series to win!
I'm offering three giveaways. You can win my fun feminist fiction, The Exit Strategy, or any book featured on The Best of Women's Fiction Podcast (and yes, I'm happy for you to enter even if you're already on this newsletter).
Writers can win a marketing consultation with me (worth $300). This can focus on any of the topics I'll be teaching in my upcoming marketing program for new authors.

You can also join lots of live events and podcast episodes.
I'm hosting a special episode on The Best of Women's Fiction Podcast, releasing June 7th, with a panel of authors who'll talk about where we see the future of women’s fiction. It promises to be fascinating!
Travel Plans
During my time in The Philippines, I've been working on my second novel and my upcoming marketing course for authors. Add in a few days off to go island hopping and scuba diving.
This week we've been a little nervous about catching the ferry from Bohol Island in the Philippines to Cebu City, during the tail end of Typhoon Betty. The safety record of ferries here isn't stellar, but they canceled a few sailings on our route this week, so I'm hoping if it's too rough to be safe our boat won't go.
After Cebu City, Hubby and I have planned a short weekend stopover in Bangkok, then onward to settle for a month in Hội An, Vietnam.
But I'll be sad to leave The Philippines. I loved meeting my extended family here and people are so friendly, which spills over onto social media.
In addition to accidentally going viral with my silly silverware question on TikTok (over a quarter million views so far), locals helped me with identifying great Filipino food to try, and gave me ideas on settings for my next book.
Here's a few videos to make you pine to visit The Philippines:
Sparkling blue water all the way (with my cousins who live here!)
Just chillin on the beach (drone shot)
The prettiest sunset view in Manila
I'm on "May-cation"
In gratitude and see ya next month (assuming we survive the ferry ride!)
