“There is nothing to writing. All you do is sit down at a typewriter and bleed.”

Ernest Hemingway. He said that. And a Hemingway book is the only one I have ever thrown across the room. The ending was so...how should I say this...so wrong, so not what I wanted it to be, and I was so wrapped up in the story that I threw the book.

The book I am talking about here is For Whom The Bell Tolls. I recommend it. If you throw it as well, let me know.

What's happening this week?

The video out right now is Part 7 of my Creative Writing for Kids Series: How to Write a Newspaper Article.

In the video I describe the three most common types of article, though I focus on the first: the news article itself. And to do that, and to help you to write articles that draw the audience in, that stimulates them, and that delivers your message in the clearest way possible, I give you some tips.

And, as is usual with these videos, I have also updated the eBook with this lesson. Go ahead and grab the eBook here!

And watch the video below, which explains all of the concepts.

An interesting competition out now for your budding writer

The Read Educational Trust is running a competition, and the first prize is 1000 bucks, plus 5000 extra in books for their school.

For nine to 16 year olds, this is a great wat to play with some dialogue. Here is the clip from the newspaper:

And like I always say, if there is something you want to know about, questions you want to ask, you go right ahead.
