Vol. 14, October 2025

October was a full month for our fall study abroad programs, with students continuing their adventures across Europe and New Zealand. From breathtaking scenery and cultural landmarks to hands-on learning experiences, each group made unforgettable memories. Keep reading to see where HUE, HUA, and HUF traveled this month!

HUE

Harding University in Europe

HUE began the month in Berlin, where students learned about World War II history before departing on a week-long cruise that took them to Denmark and Norway. The cruise wrapped up in Amsterdam, where they spent a day exploring the city’s streets and canals, as well as a visit to the Anne Frank house. From there, the group caught a flight to Madrid, Spain, for four days before heading across Europe to settle into the HUG campus in Greece for the rest of the month. While in Greece, they explored Athens, Corinth, Delphi, and Meteora. Check back next month to see where else they go during their final few weeks abroad.

HUA

Harding University in Australasia

HUA started October in Queenstown, New Zealand, where they settled in for their longest stay of the semester. Students made the most of their time by taking in the beautiful scenery and outdoor adventures. The group took a boat through the scenic Milford Sound and hiked the Hooker Track around Mount Cook. Some even took their adventures to the next level by bungee jumping and skydiving! Next month, the group begins the Asian portion of their semester, so be sure to check back to see which countries they visit next.

HUF

Harding University in Florence

HUF kicked off the month with a day trip to Siena and Volterra and ended it with visits to Rome and Pompeii. Between those Italian highlights, the group enjoyed time in Florence—attending the opera, participating in a painting class taught by former HUF director Robbie Shackelford, and settling into everyday life in the Villa.

International Programs Breakout Chapel

This month’s breakout chapel invited returning students to think about “Telling Your Story.” Dr. Jack Shock, Noah Darnell, and April Fatula shared ways to turn experiences into meaningful narratives. Dr. Shock encouraged students to reflect on their journey through three guiding questions: “Where were you, where did you go, and where are you going?”
