You don't have to tell us. We know. You're already stressed about the last weekend of the month. October was a blur, now it's November and everyone looks to you to put the plans in motion but you don't feel ready. Hold up! Take a breath. Everyone already knows you're superwoman (or superman, if we have any fellas subscribed!). But, being a superhero means you're extra busy, and unfortunately not immune to woes of expenses and time constraints.
So here's what we propose: Let go of the mentality that everything has to be orchestrated by you in order for it to be a successful holiday. Whether it's Thanksgiving or Friendsgiving, give your guests an extra reason for you to be thankful for them by requesting they pitch in for the Big Meal. One can bring a pie while another brings disposable to-go boxes or shares their own family's stuffing recipe. If not doing it all yourself somehow scares you, then consider it your main challenge of the month. Delegating and asking for help is not a sign of weakness, but of trust. There is strength in numbers, after all. You'll likely find that people love to help! They just don't always know how unless you tell them. Now, get that memo pad out. Make your list of what you want around the dinner table, then mark names down by each item, releasing a breath of relief with every one! Let's talk budget really quick.
Each year, without fail, right after we give thanks for all we have, we begin thinking of all we (or our loved ones) want or need more. In other words, Christmas can be an even more stressful season for some. Remove some of the fret by making a list of all whom you feel compelled to give a gift (homemade gifts count). This will keep your spending in check!
Also, while gathered around your Thanksgiving plates, suggest that everyone draws just one family member's name out of a hat to do their main X-mas shopping for. Buying one or two quality gifts for one person will not only reduce the anxiety, but make for a more meaningful holiday experience overall.
Last but not least, while we are thankful for so very many things, know that we are SO THANKFUL to all of you, our faithful customers and viewers. Our little local business has come so far in such a short time, and it would not be possible without all of you. We truly wish you all the most blessed of times with your loved ones this month!
Uniik-ly Yours, The Gals
