Community Announcement

Waste-Free Winter Workshops!

Queensland's First Library of Things to Open Soon!

The Share Shed will allow members to borrow useful items like a lawn mower, a bread maker, a tennis racquet or a disco ball, all for the price of an annual membership.

There are already successful Tool Libraries and Share Sheds operating in Canada, the UK and in Brunswick, Melbourne, but Share Shed will be the first in QLD.

Co-founder Nicole Bray is passionate about reducing consumption and says the Share Shed had a huge surge of interest after the ABC ‘War on Waste’ series was aired.

“We knew the idea was popular, but the amount of community support we have received has been overwhelming. We are able to open so soon after starting because of public donations of items and assistance.”

Half-price early bird memberships are on sale from 1st of September until open day.

Creature Features Lab (NEW)

See our short video by clicking here.

We've heard your requests to bring something both hip and a bit horrible to the table, so we've answered your call with our new "Creature Features Lab"! Kids can make cute or creepy zombies, vampires or another monster from their imagination and then record their creation in a pop-up movie lab so that they can be part of our fun horror movie that will be screened at the end of the holidays.

Reserve a space for your child at the Creature Features Lab!

Have you ever wondered how to crochet?

In this workshop aimed at beginners, we'll introduce you to three basic stitches and get you practising your new skills with a crochet sampler. Then, we'll show you how to make a bag using the skills you've learned. Get started on your project with the guidance of our experienced crafter, Jennifer, and take home the instructions to complete it in your own time.

Like all Reverse Garbage Queensland workshops, we'll show you how to use alternative resources, such as t-shirt yarn, as part of our mission of empowering people to divert useful materials from landfill.

This event is on 23rd September, from 2pm to 4pm. Book today!

Some of Our Lesser-Known Services

Did you know that we have an eBay store?

Our mission to save perfectly-good materials from the waste-stream and put them to use somewhere else means that we come across a lot of items from organisations that are either winding down, or wish to upgrade their systems.

As such, we get a variety of high-quality items that were bought at full price firsthand, that we can now sell for a fraction of the price secondhand.

Also note that in the coming weeks, our stock of computers and monitors will be expanding greatly.

Grab a bargain on electronics, office supplies and homewares!

Did you know that we have a gift store and gallery?

Reverse Garbage Queensland hosts Reverse Emporium, a gift shop and gallery. Reverse Emporium features the work of local artists, craft workers and designers who salvage, reuse and up-cycle materials.

Our stock includes gorgeous high quality art, jewellery, accessories, furniture, home wares, gifts and trinkets that are perfect for the eco-conscious buyer!

A myriad of materials, from timber and scrap metal to textiles and salvaged odds and ends have taken on new a life as beautifully crafted objects and art. Salvaged materials take on new form and meaning, illustrating the possibilities of "reversed garbage".

See some examples of the works we stock below, which have a range of gifts for every special occasion.
