With the kids broken up from school and thoughts turn to escaping for the summer, we have lots going on in our libraries to keep the whole family occupied for the next six weeks.

Check our catalogue for fantastic reads to suit all tastes.

The 2019 Summer Reading Challenge has launched

The 2019 Summer Reading Challenge: Space Chase has now launched with kids signing up and already reading lots of great books.

Children over the age of four can spend the summer exploring the universe with a special space-related reading challenge.

We'd also like to thank our army of dedicated volunteers without whom the challenge wouldn't work.

Join us at the Central Library as we get our hands dirty with real scientists

With evening talks by Libby Jackson (UK Space Agency), local science author Brian Clegg, Biochemist Lisa Mullan, local tutor Jetpack Jan and workshops on DNA and astronomy, this is an event not to be missed.

Family Storytime sessions with Cassandra Wye

On 9 and 10 August Cassandra will be bringing together the finest folktales of the Sun, Earth, Moon and Sky as well as giving you the chance to handle real meteorites and a piece of the moon.

Storytime with Mama G

Join Mama G as she takes you on an adventure into space. Mama G will be blasting off to meet the first dog to go into space, discovering what it takes to be an astronaut and introducing you to her new martian friend.

Find the Lost Words of Penhill

The Swindon Stories campaign is encouraging children in Penhill to practise their literacy skills while enjoying being outdoors with the launch of the Lost Words Trail.
