This week, we feature printmaker Annette DuBord.
Top, "Swim 2"; bottom, left to right, "Casting Fate"; "Woot" (lithographs). Below,"North Shore Memories I - V" (lithographs, not pictured in numerical order)
Annette “Nettie” DuBord was born and raised in Fargo, North Dakota. She studied Printmaking at Minnesota State University Moorhead and runs Funhouse Press with Cameron Peterson. Annette currently resides in Fargo with her partner and fellow printmaker, Cameron Peterson and their cats, Maybelline and Diva. She created The Rourke's 2020 Member Gift Art: a suite of lithographs titled "North Shore Memories" (a limited supply is still available for new members.)
Annette describes her creative process and technique:
Random thoughts occupy a lot of my time in “Nettieworld.” I attempt to research and plan out my work. I fail at that. My best laid plans meander off into something totally different and I am fine with that.
As a printmaker, I love the process and rituals of printmaking. The area of polymer plate lithography gives me the opportunity to learn and experiment in a relatively new process. It allows me the freedom to be random yet controlled in creating my images. What you see and what I see may be very different and that pleases me.
