At True North, kids discover that they can trust Jesus in a wild world! True North is filled with awesome Bible-learning experiences kids see, hear and touch! Hands-on science experiments, team-building games, unforgettable Bible songs and tasty treats are just a few of the standout activities that help faith flow into real life.

Where: Community Church at Lake Wylie

Dates: June 16-20 (Monday-Friday) 9 a.m. - 12 p.m.

Discover CCLW is an opportunity to get to know us better! Join us for a casual time to learn about who we are, the mission of our church, and to answer any questions you have about CCLW. This is a chance to meet Pastor Ryan and other church leaders and for us to get to know you.

Discover CCLW is held every 2nd Sunday of the month in Room 208 or the Gathering Space (if available) at 12:30 p.m. (after the worship service). We will have light snacks. No registration needed.

As our church continues to grow and more folks are looking for ways to get to know people, we are offering a way to connect. Meeting over a meal binds people in special and simple ways. Dinner for 8 is a casual and relaxed opportunity to build relationships and meet people here at Community Church at Lake Wylie.

Register below to attend a dinner that fits your availability and location. All times will be from 6:30pm - 8pm. Once you have registered, you will receive an additional email with the exact address of the dinner you selected.

And then just show up ready to enjoy a dinner with casual conversation and connection!

CHURCH, YOU DID IT AGAIN!

We delivered all the home goods you brought to us for the 1st Baptist Church of Swannanoa on April 1. The people there were a little overwhelmed by your love and generosity! They did not expect to receive a van filled to the top with items and an SUV that barely had room for the driver/passenger. There were two volunteers that met us when we arrived, and they called for reinforcements to help put all the new products on their shelves when we left. It was awesome to once again see His love through your caring hearts! THANK YOU!!

The House Warming Boutique will open for their clientele soon. This church has a system to allow only families moving into their homes from nearby zip codes to “shop” at the boutique. They are very careful to be sure they are taking care of their neighbors and not being “used” by others that might take advantage of the situation. They shared with us how grateful the people were at Christmas when we assisted them in December…over 400 families were able to have some semblance of normalcy during this time to remember the birth of Christ.

We reported in December the challenges facing Swannanoa and Black Mountain due to the Hurricane Helene flood…and unfortunately the needle has not moved very far in these past 3 months. The folks at 1st Baptist reported that Buncombe County is much slower to issue building permits than some of the other mountain counties. Because their community remains in almost complete disrepair, 1st Baptist Church of Swannanoa is creating a 5-7 year plan to help their town residents. This is their estimate as to how long it will take them to recover. Think about that…if your son or daughter entered 6th grade before the storm last August, they will graduate from high school before the town has fully recovered!

YOU DID REAL GOOD, CHURCH!

And we will ask you to show God’s love to these people again in the months to come, people who will likely never enter our building, but can feel His presence through your loving, caring generosity!!

We also want to thank the community of River Hills. They partnered with us again in this endeavor and allowed us to deliver so many wonderful gifts to these people!

Young at Heart Picnic

The Young at Heart group has been on hold for a little while, but now we have our Memorial Day picnic planned at Jim Pugh’s house on Monday, May 26th.

Friday, May 16th, at 6 p.m. “Praise and Paint” party from 6-8 p.m. at CCLW’s kids clubhouse. Absolutely no artistic ability required! The cost of $35 per person will provide you with all the materials you need to create your pre-sketched masterpiece!

Saturday, June 7th, at 11 a.m.  A la carte Brunch at Clover Harvest from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.

FOOD ASSISTANCE FOR THE BLESSING BOX

Clover Area Assistance Center (CAAC) prevailed on CCLW to install a mini pantry (Blessing Box) in 2023. The canned goods left in the box are intended for the local homeless as well as families who need help stretching their food supply. CAAC reports that since COVID, they have seen a large uptick in Lake Wylie residents needing food assistance, which is why we have the Blessing Box on the parking lot side of our church (follow the signs from highway 49).

We need your help. In order to keep this pantry filled with appropriate foodstuffs, we ask that you buy a few extra cans of food (see the separate list) when you are grocery shopping each week. Simply place them directly in the Blessing Box or put them on the table in Room 116. A member of the Missions Committee will do the rest.

Thank you for this ongoing support. Our local community continues to grow and with that growth comes new challenges. Feeding the homeless and helping families are responsibilities with which we can help.
