Dear Reader

We hope you had a relaxing summer break and a fresh start back to work. As we are settling into our daily working routines, we have several highlights to share with you. The 10th Anniversary of the EaP policy is not over yet and the third edition of our special #10YearsTogether newsletter will focus on some internal successes of EaP CSF in the past 10 years.

While reflecting on the future of the EaP policy in the first half a year, EaP CSF used the opportunity to reflect on our own (visual) identity. We invite you to scroll through a new layout of our newsletter and browse our updated web-page. To summarize our main achievements in the past 10 years of the EaP policy, we’ve created a “A history of one idea… EaP CSF”, an interactive timeline tool, which will guide you through the key milestones and achievements of our work in the past decade.

In this edition, we also bring you closer to our National Platforms and zoom into the grassroots highlighting their efforts in driving the EaP policy forward. Scroll down and find out our updates yourself.

And remember to follow us on Social Media (Facebook and Twitter), under hashtag: #10YearsTogether!

A history of one idea… EaP CSF

From the launch of the EaP policy in 2009, the registration of EaP CSF Secretariat in 2012, to our contribution to EaP Summits, EaP CSF has come a long way – making its name as a trusted partner in democratic reform. Highlights from EaP National Platforms
Armenia: Speaking Out on Youth Issues

In the past few months, Armenian National Platform – lead by Armenian Progressive Youth NGO, has successfully campaigned in the National Assembly, helping to draft the text of the new law, which will address this issue. It is expected to be adopted by the end of year.

Azerbaijan: Advocating Human Rights

EaP CSF supported our Azerbaijani colleagues in protesting against the renewed criminal proceedings against jailed blogger, Mehman Huseynov. The issue was subsequently raised at the European Parliament and attracted international attention, prompting the authorities to drop the new charges.

Belarus: International Media Literacy Solutions Forum

The BY National Platform is in full preparations for the upcoming Media Literacy Solution Forum. It aims to explore solutions for enhancing media literacy in the region of Eastern Europe and Eastern partnership, connect existing media literacy initiatives and share best practices. Register here to participate.

Georgia: Engaging in Good Governance

In July, Kutaisi hosted an EaP Summer School – bringing young people from Azerbaijan, Georgia, Moldova and Ukraine – to discuss ways of promoting good governance through civic engagement. The five-day event was supported by 2018 WG Re-granting Scheme.

Moldova: Standing by the Rule of Law

EaP CSF Moldovan National Platform was quick to react to the crisis, arising from the Constitutional Court’s decisions to dissolve the Parliament and replace the President. Former EaP CSF member – and current Member of the Parliament – Dumitru Alaiba pushed against these decisions, highlighting political interference from oligarch Vladimir Plahotniuc.

Ukraine: Discussing Tangible Policy Outcomes

On the margins of 10th anniversary of EaP policy, the Ukrainian National Platform of EaP CSF co-hosted a conference “From Achievements to the Future”. The EaP CSF’s policy paper “Advancing Eastern Partnership: 23 Civil Society Ideas for the Policy beyond 2020” served as the ground for the discussions  on how the policy should be shaped in the future.
