Bouchercon is named for American author and critic, Anthony Boucher. During his lifetime, he contributed to the development of modern mystery novels as a genre. The first conference was held in Santa Monica, California in 1979. Held annually in different locations, it’s a conference put on by fans for fans and writers. The multi-day event is filled with panels, author interviews and various other activities. The first time I attended Bouchercon was in 1989 in Philadelphia. Over the years, I’ve enjoyed visiting places I might not have otherwise visited. But best of all are the friendships I’ve made because of our shared love of books, especially mysteries.
Now, attending Bouchercon as an author and talking with readers who enjoy my books is so exciting and rewarding. Already, I’m looking forward to Bouchercon 2024 in Nashville, Tennessee, August 28-September 1... maybe I’ll see you there!
