Welcome to the June edition of the SME Week Newsletter.

Over the past months, Promoting Enterprise has been working to bring you the latest COVID related policy updates, exciting developments from the EEPA 2020 competition and news from the world of SMEs.

In this issue, we wanted to bring you something more and share stories, from SMEs, entrepreneurs and other stakeholders about their transformation, adaptation, and initiatives during the pandemic. We believe you and your network will find their stories inspiring.

We also want to hear YOUR stories, how are you overcoming these challenging times? Share your news and updates to be featured in an upcoming issue or on the Promoting Enterprise News Portal.

Acts of solidarity – How a Belgian seamstress started making masks

Here at Promoting Enterprise we are looking for and collecting ‘COVID Stories’ to shine a spotlight on the people and SMEs that have adapted to COVID-19. Our first story is Catherine’s, a Belgian seamstress who used her skills and micro SME sewing business to help with the overnight increased demand for masks.

EEPA 2020 – Deadlines still open!

The European Enterprise Promotion Awards national competitions are still active and looking for applicants! Check your national deadline to see whether your national competition is still open and apply today.

Member States consulted on proposed expansion of State aid Temporary Framework

On Friday 12 June, the European Commission sent Member States a draft proposal for their consultation and comments to further extend the scope of the State aid Temporary Framework adopted on 19 March 2020 to support the economy in the context of the coronavirus outbreak.

EEPA 2020 – Germany selects their national winners!

Some of the EEPA national competitions are still accepting entries and others have recently made the tough decision on who to put forward for the European competition. Germany has made their national selection, but which two projects have been chosen?

    The European Entrepreneurial Region Award 2021-2022 – Call to Apply

    The European Entrepreneurial Region (EER) Award, run by the Secretary-General of the European Committee of the Regions (CoR), is open for applications. The submission deadline is 28 October 2020. Due to the COVID-19 crisis, the EER jury decided to re-open the original call and change the focus to Entrepreneurship for a sustainable recovery.
